Dr. Lena Wedeken studied human biology at the Philipps-University Marburg, Germany and obtained her PhD in molecular biology/biochemistry from the Westfälische Wilhelms-University Münster, Germany in 2011. During her postdoctoral fellowship in stem cell biology at the Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope in Duarte, CA, USA, she became an expert in the derivation and analysis of organoids from primary pancreatic tissue. Before joining CELLphenomics in 2020, she was Scientific Officer at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) and its associated foundation EFSD. Lena is an expert on the derivation of patient tumor-derived organoid models and their use to analyze chemosensitivity, and an experienced project manager. She is supervisor in the H2020-MSCA-ITN-2019 PRECODE network and project leader for BMBF Alternative methods for animal experiments 2020-funded project TumOC, developing an organoid-on-chip approach to analyze treatment efficiency in colorectal cancer in collaboration with Fraunhofer IZI-BB.
